The SC Works Trident centers provide employers with valuable resources to recruit qualified employees from a variety of backgrounds and skill sets. Services include local and state initiatives to aid in recruitment, employer training programs and business retention and expansion efforts.

WIOA State-funded Incumbent Worker Training Program Application
The Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) Program provides funding to help cover the costs of training needed to retain a competitive workforce. Such training is meant to assist with expansion, new technology, retooling, new services/product lines, and/or new organizational structuring, or to be used as part of a layoff aversion strategy. IWT is not intended to fund the periodic safety and refresher courses necessary for a business to continue to operate (i.e. First Aid, CPR, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration certifications), but to assist with the extraordinary needs of the business. IWT is funded by the Federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
Services
On-The-Job Training (OJT)
A method of providing individualized occupational skills training for Dislocated Workers and WIOA eligible customers. OJT’s objective is to assist businesses to provide training in demand occupations that meet the needs of the employer. The goal of the OJT program is to place participants in occupations that will enhance their prospects for long-term employment.
Customized Training
The Trident Workforce Development Board invests in promoting growth within the region by using innovative and often nontraditional solutions to develop the skills of the workforce while addressing the evolving needs of local businesses.
Labor Market Information
Recruiting and Staff Services
The SC Works Trident system can assist employers advertise job openings, coordinate the application process, and schedule recruitment interviews and career fairs, as well as facilitate pre-hire and post-hire testing sessions at conveniently located centers throughout the region or at the employer’s location.
Downsizing and Layoff Assistance
The SC Works Trident system provides job placement, retraining opportunities, and other services to help reduce the economic impact of layoffs on both the company and the community.
Rapid Response
When plant closings and layoffs become a reality, businesses can get the help they need for affected employees. Rapid Response assistance is available to employers and employees impacted by and permanent layoff or closure action affecting 50 or more workers.
Career Assessments
The Trident Workforce Development Board offers WIN Learning’s Ready to Work Assessments as the state-sponsored career readiness assessment. The Ready to Work assessment is a workforce education and development tool, comprised of three proctored assessments: Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, and Locating Information, leading to a work ready credential. WorkKeys Assessments
Offered at all three SC Works Trident Centers for a fee. Employers are encouraged to contact ACT at 1-800-967-5539 for questions on ACT Profiles and WorkKeys Assessments.
Federal Bonding Program
The Federal Bonding Program provides no cost fidelity bonds for returning citizens and other hard-to-place job applicants who face barriers to employment. The Federal Bonding Program issues fidelity bonds, which are business insurance policies that protect employers in case of theft, forgery, larceny, embezzlement of money or property by an employee who is covered by the bond. The bond coverage is usually $5000 with no deductible amount of liability for the employer.
Work Opportunity Tax Credit
The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is designed to encourage employers to hire workers from certain targeted groups who have consistently faced significant barriers to employment. WOTC joins other workforce programs to incentivize workplace diversity and facilitates access to good jobs for American workers.
